Control

Life is not always about “come what may” and “que sera sera”. We need to take control of our fate sometimes. If we want to uncover the answers to life’s mysterious questions, we need to take a step forward. We’re not living alone by ourselves or for ourselves, we need good people who would understand our passion and affirm our existence.

In our life as struggling amateur animators in this side of the planet, we we’re called Kuris animators for nothing. We scratch up life with answers that would lead us not only to attain our greatest ambition or fulfill our passion but to conquer our limitations. Proof of our perseverance is achieving little feats in the small city of Iloilo and making a name for our team amid the countless trials we have gone through since last year.

Today, we wanted to take control with a lot things going on along our path. We want to chase our dream even if life isn’t always perfect. The path we chose is endless or somehow desperate but we we’re given great gifts, artistic eye and flair that makes us capable of fulfilling our goals. We are Kuris animators and part of being an artist is scratching up every possibility that would bring us to our passion.

We finally drafted and showed Sir Karlo our proposal letter to start our various project this year after months of taking a break and focusing our time in the school’s special project. Last week, when the special project team had an important meeting and review of the outputs, I approached Sir Roly regarding our intention to join the Animahenasyon 2008 of ACPI this year and the “Lapis” proposal. His response was overwhelming and offered us generous assistance. It was an instant surprise for us since we didn’t expect his good feedback. As long as WVCST is part of the important presenters of our project, he’s willing to give us what we need. We know deep inside that we have already proven our strength and feat as a team since the showing of The BEQUEST, our first and most significant project this year.

So when I stated in our proposal letter to ask for the school’s assistance in improving and adding more scenes to The BEQUEST before submitting it for Animahenasyon, Sir Karlo was very enthusiastic of the idea. Bryan and Jay looks forward to start what we have planned months ago. We wanted to show our best stuff and strength again. The negative feedback or the positive comments from various people about our project doesn’t really matter at all. What matters most is how we prove ourselves and enjoy everything about our passion in animation. Sir Karlo also agreed to use the opportunity in starting an early production and character designs for our next original story—Lapis: Quest for The Lost Key. We know that this would be a tough project since it’s going to be made into full-length animated film but we have faith that we can make it good. There are lots of generous and talented people around the country who are willing to help us shape well the project including screenplay development, 3D assistance and many others. As early on, we are extending our gratitude to Ms. Lhot for offering her skills in writing and preparing the screenplay. Her talent is awesome and we know she can bring out the best story through our imagination. We hope the best is yet to come for Lapis, we hope so.

Simultaneous with our work for early production design, we are also embarking on a commercial project with one of today’s popular food product. The company has been a good partner with our BEQUEST project last January. Now, they requested us to make a 2D-3D animated clip not more than 10 minutes that would be included in the production of their training module for new employees. This is very flattering in our part since we consider ourselves amateur animators. But Sir Johnny, the company head have faith and trust in what we do best. He wanted to promote the talents of Ilonggo animators through his company and consider this project as innovative move in his marketing promotion. He even suggested that this would be a significant addition in our portfolio as a group. We will do our best and we won’t fail people who have trust in our talents.

So right after Sir Karlo read the letter and printed it out, he signed it with a smile. I signed it as well. We are grateful for all the good things that have been happening around us lately. We know that our destiny is something we need to draft and draw. We need to chase it and give everything we’ve got. So when the time comes that we need to live our own lives separately, we won’t regret anything. But let’s hope that we’ll be stronger and better.

As I return to our room where the rest of the Kuris guys are sleeping after a whole night of rushing for the deadline, I realize that we are indeed making a big step to take control of our fate.

I think we are doing it passionately.

Postscript: Kuris meeting is coming up this week, the rest of the special project K-guys will entrust these stuff to the members who are not yet involved in our task. And maybe, we can get Sir Johnny’s approval to release the fund by weekend. One step at a time friends… life is going to be OK.

Learning “to fish” is the key to life T! and not the ones you are preaching about. Oh yeah, I read your friendster message blabbing…. Sounds frail, I guess, hehe!
