inspired to dream

Appreciated

The world can be harsh sometimes. It’s always the same and we hope it would change someday. When we were starting as a group of artists wanting to find our place under the sun, people have been telling us that animation can be a tough craft and passion to follow. With the all hardship and the costly production of making animated films throughout history, animators have gambled a lot to reach their dreams. It was even harder reality to think that Ilonggo artists are starting to embrace this craft even if they lack formal training, standard facilities, financial support and opportunities like in Manila. Even animators in Manila are having hard time cracking up the international animation industry.
But beyond anything else, we have been given the gifts and artistic vision to do animations. I think we were born to do it truthfully ever since we learned to love cartoons during our childhood years. Animated films flared up our imagination and transported our minds to places where only dreams existed. Being an artist, we have this need to break free of our unsung and unspoken reveries into reality.
So when the opportunity came for TESDA and WVCST to train budding animators, we were dragged into a passion we couldn’t refuse. After almost a year of training and applying our learning through our projects, it is a fulfilling emotion to look back again. Along the pathway of uncertainties, we found each other and shared our gifts to prove something great. Promoting our own cultural heritage through our projects is even more significant and relevant to the present degradation of local arts community. Our quest for originality and cultural appreciation led us to be remembered by people who understood what it means to follow your dreams. The real consolation that we are waiting for in this tireless search is to be appreciated by people who saw art and passion as reflections of life worth living. Financial gain and fame are secondary.
A lot of good things and challenging circumstance came along the way but we try to keep focus. Although several other projects kept us busy for a while and some distractions left our plans on hold, we know that at the end of the day we will be there for each other. Yes, critics and anonymous haters kept haunting the comments section of our little blog for some time now. But I refused to allow their not-so-ethical-blabbings and too personal comments about us be published. All their accusations against us are baseless, faulty and rooted from crab mentality (not to mention some are grammatically erroneous). But you know, this is the Philippines and don’t expect everybody’s going to be nice especially if you are doing good with your passion. On the other side, we often try to reverse these stuff into some kind of inspiring challenge to prove ourselves better and embrace positivity. But sometimes, these haters and fanatic readers (which they won’t admit) can get personally annoying especially when they are stating to cite individual differences and preference of our members. But guess what, I always put in our head that “real talent” and “artistic gifts” are things we don’t choose to have… these are naturally part of who we are and what we are truly destined for. So having gifts is something we should be proud of to share and show to others people who will get inspired by what we do. Well, after having said these things, I realize that I should have been more open-minded and nice to our blog haters, hehe.
But after proving our artistry, there were good souls who expressed their appreciation. They are those anonymous bloggers and friends who left us with inspiring messages to fonder. They were always there along the way watching us as we strive to bring out the best in us, the artistic desire inside us wanting to be shared to the world around us. And now, I do believe that we succeeded in sending the message and inspiration to a lot of budding artists out there…to never give up and be the best!
To Brian Gorell, my writer pals Lhot, Jeehan, and Ramon del Prado with his Tuldok animation team…and everybody else who anonymously kept sending us sweet emails of appreciation, thanks for hanging around. Our life journey has been a worthy trip.

That's the spirit! don't let any negativity stop you or us from achieving our goal. We're here to create an animation identity for the Philippines. It is definitely not easy, and only a few would dare attempt it, especially in such a sticky medium that animation is.

Stay strong and keep going!
The journey isn't over yet! :)
